Documents signed at the White House open a new stage in the South Caucasus - OPINION
"The documents signed on August 8 at the White House were not merely a fundamental contribution to peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Their signing already indicated that the traditional policy that had been pursued regarding the South Caucasus was coming to an end. In other words, an entirely new chapter is opening in relations with the states of the South Caucasus."
This was stated in a comment to BAKU.WS by Doctor of Philosophy in Political Sciences, political analyst Shabnam Hasanova.
According to her, if we say that this is the result of the steps and decisions of the Leader of Azerbaijan, we would not be mistaken or exaggerating in the slightest:
"The implementation of the TRIPP project in the South Caucasus indicates that wars and conflicts in our region have been brought to an end, and the potential opportunities of the region will be reassessed anew.
In this context, the visit and its results are of extremely important significance.
Today's reality shows that President Ilham Aliyev is a Leader of global scale. The fact is that the goal of the head of state was not limited to liberating Karabakh from occupation and ensuring territorial integrity and sovereignty. The steps taken by the head of state toward unlocking the potential of the entire South Caucasus are indisputable."
Shabnam Hasanova emphasized that peace is already being felt in practice:
"The lifting of restrictions on cargo transportation to Armenia has a positive impact on the economy and society of that country. This is precisely the new reality that the far-sighted policy of President Ilham Aliyev has brought to the region.
With Azerbaijan's determination of the principles of the peace treaty, not only Armenia was compelled to reckon with them. Azerbaijan's resolute position also forced other regional and global players to take steps that preclude the possibility of ignoring Azerbaijan's Victory and the realities it has created.
One of the particularly notable moments is that US President Donald Trump frequently corresponds with President Ilham Aliyev. Donald Trump has already repeatedly referred to President Ilham Aliyev.
Undoubtedly, this very fact is an important indicator that Azerbaijan's relations with such a major power as the United States are of a positive nature.
Thus, the author of the new status quo that has emerged in the South Caucasus is President Ilham Aliyev."
