Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister expressed a strong protest to Araghchi over drone attacks
On March 5, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.
This was reported in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
During the conversation, J. Bayramov strongly condemned the drone strikes from Iranian territory on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) and expressed a categorical protest in connection with these actions.
It was emphasized that such attacks on Azerbaijani territory grossly violate the norms and principles of international law and contribute to the escalation of tensions in the region.
The Iranian Foreign Minister expressed concern over the drone attack on the territory of the NAR. He informed that the Iranian side, together with military structures, had launched an investigation into the incident. The Iranian minister also wished a speedy recovery to the injured civilians.
The Iranian side was informed that Azerbaijan expects an apology in connection with the attack, the provision of explanations based on the results of the investigation as soon as possible, as well as the adoption of all necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
