Athletes who attacked a State Fire Service major will face trial again

A cassation appeal has been filed against the decision in the case of three kickboxers who were criminally prosecuted in connection with the attack on Major of the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan, honored coach Fuad Zeynalov and his acquaintance.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to pravda.az, the appeal will be reviewed under the chairmanship of Supreme Court Judge Ilgar Jafarov.

It should be noted that the incident occurred in January 2025. The criminal case was investigated by the Main Police Department of the city of Baku.

Fuad Zeynalov stated that the person who ordered the attack on him was former Vice President of the Azerbaijan Kickboxing Federation Ramal Aslanov. According to him, even before this incident, Aslanov had also committed acts of hooliganism against him.

A separate criminal case was opened under Article 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan for the legal assessment of the actions of R. Aslanov and other individuals.

According to the verdict of the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, Elchin Huseynov was sentenced to restriction of freedom with the application of an electronic bracelet, while Elnur Hamidov and Musa Ahmadov received suspended sentences.

All three athletes were released right in the courtroom.
