Anaclaudia Rossbach called for joining forces to combat the housing crisis
Politics 6

To resolve the housing crisis, it is necessary to combine the efforts of the private sector and governments.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated to journalists by the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Anaclaudia Rossbach at the opening of WUF13 in Baku.

She noted that the world is facing a serious housing crisis and coordinated actions by all parties are needed to address it: "People live in informal settlements, cannot afford to buy or rent housing, and some have been left without shelter altogether. The main goal of the forum is to facilitate the development of practical mechanisms to address these problems at various levels."

According to Rossbach, resolving the housing crisis is impossible through government efforts alone: "We need the private sector, civil society, local authorities, and strong national policies. Broad cooperation is necessary to overcome this crisis."

The Executive Director of UN-Habitat also thanked the government of Azerbaijan for organizing the forum.
