A New Era for Nakhchivan: From Blockade to Global Logistics Center

Nakhchivan, being an ancient and integral part of Azerbaijan, has played an important role in the political, economic, and cultural life of our country throughout history. The fate and development of this ancient land have always been closely linked to the most important pages of our statehood history. Thanks to the special attention and care of national leader Heydar Aliyev for Nakhchivan, as well as the consistent and purposeful continuation of this policy by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in accordance with the requirements of the new era, the autonomous republic has today entered an entirely new stage of development.

Oxu.Az was told this by Member of the Milli Majlis Sabina Salmanova, commenting on Ilham Aliyev's trip to Nakhchivan.

According to her, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) is one of the important pillars of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, national state will, and the country's geopolitical interests:

"From this perspective, every trip of the head of state to Nakhchivan holds special significance in terms of defining specific directions of state policy, implementing important projects, and clarifying prospects for the further development of the region. The Azerbaijani leader has always paid special attention to the socio-economic development of Nakhchivan and its full integration into the country's overall development system. Ilham Aliyev has made 17 trips to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to date. During these trips, the President participated in the opening of numerous social, economic, and infrastructure facilities and gave important instructions related to the further development of the region. This fact alone clearly demonstrates the special place of Nakhchivan in state policy."

The parliamentarian noted that when speaking about the modern history of Nakhchivan's development, it is first and foremost necessary to recall the activities of national leader Heydar Aliyev associated with this ancient land.

"The Nakhchivan period of national leader Heydar Aliyev's political activity represents a special stage in the history of Azerbaijani statehood. It was precisely during those difficult years in Nakhchivan that important steps were taken to preserve statehood traditions, strengthen national will, and determine Azerbaijan's path to independence. At the subsequent stage, this political legacy was enriched with new content by esteemed President Ilham Aliyev.
