# Who is Babek Alekberov, who has been awarded the rank of Lieutenant General?

Lieutenant General of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, Commander of the Rapid Response Forces of the State Border Service (since 2023), Hero of the Patriotic War B. Alekberov was born on December 24, 1987, in the Absheron district. He is originally from Western Azerbaijan.

From 2003 to 2006, Babek Alekberov studied at the Jamshid Nakhchivanski Military Lyceum. From 2006 to 2010, he received higher military education at the Border Troops faculty of the Heydar Aliyev Academy of the Ministry of National Security, from which he graduated with the rank of lieutenant. After graduating from the academy, he began his service in the Rapid Response Forces of the Border Troops.

In 2016, by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, he was awarded the medal "For Valor" in connection with the professional holiday of State Border Service employees.

He participated in the Patriotic War that began on September 27, 2020. He demonstrated great courage in operations along the Araz River and reported to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on the liberation of the Zangilan district and the Khudaferin Bridge.

For outstanding services in the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, heroism displayed in carrying out combat missions to destroy the enemy during the liberation of occupied territories, as well as courage and valor demonstrated in the performance of military duties, by the decree of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 9, 2020, Babek Alekberov was awarded the title of Hero of the Patriotic War.

By another decree of the head of state dated February 2, 2024, he was awarded the jubilee medal "100th Anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923-2023)".

He is married and has three children.
