Leyla Aliyeva attended the memorial event "One of Them: Emil"
On June 30, a memorial event titled "One of Them: Emil," dedicated to the memory of 13-year-old Emil who passed away from thalassemia, was held at the Sheki State Drama Theater.
The event was organized with the support of the Sheki City Executive Authority, initiated by Ayshan Abdullayeva, the head of the "From Heart to Blood" project, and under the general project leadership of Elvin Nusretoglu.
As reported by BAKU.WS, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva participated in the event.
The main purpose of the event was to pay tribute to the memory of children who lost their lives due to thalassemia, as well as to raise public awareness about the issue of thalassemia.
During the memorial evening, various artistic compositions were performed, reflecting Emil's life journey, his feelings, dreams, and the experiences of his family. The compositions presented on stage — "Moth," "Fireplace," "Adagio," "I Will Search for You," "Moon," and the closing piece "Under the Sun" — evoked a deep emotional response in the hearts of the audience. The stage performances conveyed ideas about the value of life, hope, and love.
During the event, specially prepared segments narrating Emil's life were shown, including video clips about events held within the framework of the "One of Them: Emil" project.
Speaking at the end of the event, Ayshan Abdullayeva, the head of the "From Heart to Blood" project and initiator of the "One of Them: Emil" project, spoke about the attention given to thalassemia patients in our country and expressed gratitude to the country's leadership for their support. It was noted that people suffering from thalassemia wage an incredible daily struggle. The most valuable help that increases their hope for life is, alongside the state, the attention and care of society and the selflessness of voluntary blood donors. She noted that such projects are not only memorial in nature but are also aimed at providing moral support to thalassemia patients and their families, and strengthening the sense of solidarity and social responsibility in society.
It should be noted that the "One of Them: Emil" project was the final event in the series of activities dedicated to the topic of thalassemia. The project began with the conference "Thalassemia — A Message to Society," held on June 18. During the conference, detailed information was presented about thalassemia, its complications, prevention, and the measures being implemented in this area.
In the subsequent phase of the project, on June 19-20, a blood donation drive titled "Thalassemia — Unity of Blood" was organized. A total of 465 people participated in the drive. After medical examination, 163 people donated blood as donors. The collected blood supply was directed toward supporting the treatment of people suffering from thalassemia and other blood disorders.
All the events carried out within the framework of the project served the purpose of raising public awareness about the issue of thalassemia, encouraging voluntary blood donation, and providing support to people suffering from this disease.
After the event, Leyla Aliyeva visited Emil's family members and had a heartfelt conversation with them over tea.
