Elena Kalyaninova: I Could Not Even Imagine That They Could Shoot Down a Passenger Plane

This past year has been the most difficult and unbearable period of my life. When I found out about what happened, it was very painful to accept and comprehend it. However, over time, you realize that those who are gone will never be in your life again. I understand that he will never call again and say: "Mom, I've already arrived, I'm home".

These words were said by Elena Kalyaninova, the mother of one of the heroically fallen AZAL airplane pilots - National Hero of Azerbaijan Alexander Kalyaninov.

According to the woman, she still cannot believe the loss of her son.

"I think people are mistaken when they say that time heals. That's not true. With each day it only gets more painful. I feel like something is happening to me and tomorrow it will all end. I don't want to believe this is reality. I feel like my son will return. I thought I could protect him from any of life's difficulties, but this time I couldn't, I couldn't save him," shared the pilot's mother.

E. Kalyaninova also noted that she would never have thought that something like this could happen. "Many more people die in road accidents than in plane crashes. A plane crash is an extremely rare occurrence. I couldn't even imagine that a passenger plane could be shot down," she emphasized.
