Will the manat depreciate against the dollar in 2026? - STATEMENT

Deputy and economist Vugar Bayramov in a conversation with BAKU.WS spoke about the prospects of the global oil market and its impact on Azerbaijan's economy. According to the parliamentarian, forecasts for 2026 remain unfavorable.
Experts expect that the oil price will fluctuate within the range of 50-60 dollars per barrel. He emphasized that the inflow of foreign currency into the country directly depends on the price of oil in global markets.
Bayramov reminded that earlier the Central Bank noted: a price drop below 50 dollars could seriously affect the volume of foreign currency inflows. Thus, the country's balance of payments in 2026 will be directly linked to oil price dynamics.
Commenting on the situation with the national currency, the deputy noted that the exchange rate of the Azerbaijani manat will be formed based on the Central Bank's policy.
"Azerbaijan has not yet transitioned to a floating exchange rate system, therefore the stability of the manat will depend on the regulator's position," Bayramov emphasized.
