Who receives the highest salaries in Azerbaijan?

In January-May 2025, the average monthly nominal salary of workers in Azerbaijan was 1095 manats, which is 9.1 percent higher compared to the same period last year.
This was reported by BAKU.WS with reference to data from the State Statistics Committee.
The figures show that workers in the oil and gas sector remain the group with the highest wages. Their average monthly salary was 3928 manats. In the non-oil sector, this figure was 1042.2 manats.
When comparing by forms of ownership, the average salary of employees at state enterprises was 1051.4 manats, while in the private sector this figure was higher – 1139.5 manats.
Industries with the highest salaries:
Mining industry: 3743.6 manats
Financial and insurance activities: 3148.2 manats
Information and communication: 1875.2 manats
Professional, scientific and technical activities: 1858.9 manats
Transport and warehousing: 1555.6 manats
Salaries in these industries significantly exceed the country's average and lead as the most profitable sectors in the labor market.
The lowest salary was recorded in agriculture, forestry and fishing – only 681.7 manats.
It should be noted that the salary of workers in the manufacturing industry was 989.3 manats, and in education – 801 manats.
Although rising wage indicators are considered a positive phenomenon in terms of increasing income levels in the country's economy, inter-industry differences also highlight the need for balanced development in the labor market.
