SOCAR Green explores offshore wind opportunities with Chinese partners

Azerbaijan aims to become a key player in the global renewable energy sector.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by the director of SOCAR Green, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Elmir Musayev, speaking at the 11th ministerial meeting within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 3rd ministerial meeting within the framework of the Green Energy Advisory Council in Baku.
"We have renewable energy projects with a capacity of 1.4 gigawatts that are under development. Of course, we have even more projects at the planning stage, and we will demonstrate and announce them when the time comes. This will also help Azerbaijan achieve its zero-emission goals," Musayev emphasized.
According to him, the company, together with Chinese partners, is exploring opportunities for offshore wind use. "This will allow the export of electricity, green electricity to European markets and will support the implementation of the Green Corridor project. As SOCAR Green, we will do everything possible to support Azerbaijan and the region in achieving decarbonization and zero-emission goals," added the director of SOCAR Green.
Recall that in November last year, an Executive Agreement was signed in the Fizuli district between the Ministry of Energy, China Energy Overseas Investment Co. Ltd. and SOCAR Green LLC on a 160 MW solar energy project.
