Azerbaijan and Turkey discussed energy partnership and COP31

The Azerbaijan-Turkey Energy Forum remains an important platform for the sustainable development of energy partnership and enrichment with new areas of cooperation.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Ministry of Energy, this was stated at the meeting between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and his Turkish counterpart Alparslan Bayraktar within the framework of the V Azerbaijan-Turkey Energy Forum in Baku.

At the meeting, the role of joint energy projects in ensuring energy security of the two countries and the region was emphasized.

In the context of changes in the global energy architecture and the acceleration of electrification, the development of Azerbaijan-Turkey electrical interconnections through Nakhchivan and Georgia, green energy corridors, as well as cooperation opportunities within the "Caspian-Black Sea-Europe" project were discussed.

An exchange of views on cooperation within the framework of the upcoming COP31 in Turkey took place. Measures within the "Energy and Transport Day" of COP31 and the continuation of energy initiatives put forward during Azerbaijan's presidency at COP29 were reviewed. It was noted that joint projects on electrical interconnections and green corridors align with the priorities of COP31. Azerbaijan expressed its readiness to share the experience of its COP29 presidency and support Turkey in hosting COP31.
