Warning to humanity: what awaits the world in the next 5 years
According to a new forecast from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), there is an 80 percent probability that at least one year in the period from 2025 to 2029 will break the temperature record set in 2024.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to him, the recent WMO report causes serious concern among scientists. In addition to the likely breaking of the absolute temperature maximum, another alarming trend is the increase in average annual temperatures. With a 70% probability, within the next five years, global warming may temporarily exceed the mark of 1.5 °C relative to the pre-industrial level. This is the boundary that the global community considers critical within the framework of the Paris Agreement.
