Trump made a curious statement about Kim Jong Un

US President Donald Trump expressed readiness for a personal meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, whom he called a "smart guy".

"We have a great relationship... He's a smart guy, and I should get to know him better," Trump said.

According to him, interaction with the head of North Korea is extremely important, despite the possible rejection of this idea, and he did not rule out the possibility of meeting with Kim Jong Un in the future.

Earlier, speaking at a White House press conference, Trump noted that he intends to resume negotiations with Pyongyang. He recalled previous meetings with Kim Jong Un in Singapore and Vietnam, emphasizing that they established good personal relations. The US President expressed a desire to continue dialogue with North Korea, adding that Hillary Clinton's victory in the 2016 election would, in his opinion, have led to a nuclear war with North Korea.
