Lukashenko will not run in the next election

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko does not plan to run for president in the next election.

He stated this in an interview with Time magazine.

"No, I am not planning to now, not planning to anymore," said A.Lukashenko, answering the corresponding question.

He also noted that he does not see his younger son Nikolai as his successor to the presidential post.

He admitted that the next president of Belarus could be someone who will pursue a somewhat different policy. But, he hopes that his successor will continue the evolutionary development of the country.
