The fatal incident occurred on the Spanish A-52 highway approximately 100 kilometers west of Valladolid. According to the source, while performing an overtaking maneuver, the car's tire unexpectedly burst, leading to a complete loss of control. The vehicle veered off the road, flipped over, and caught fire. Diogo Jota and his brother Andre, who were in the car, died instantly at the scene of the accident.
News of the footballer's tragic death was reported earlier on July 3. The talented athlete was only 28 years old.
Diogo Jota had been playing for the legendary Liverpool since 2020. During his career at the English club, he achieved impressive results, becoming the champion of England, winning the FA Cup and the English League Cup. As part of Portugal's national team, the forward played 49 matches, scoring 14 goals.
