President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he is ready to participate in the upcoming summit in Budapest, where US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are expected to meet.

As reported by BAKU.WS, Zelensky said this in an interview with NBC News after his meeting with Trump on Friday. According to him, he has already informed the American leader about his willingness to join the negotiations.

"If we really want a fair and lasting peace, we need both sides of this tragedy. How can there be any agreements about us without us?" said Zelensky.

He emphasized that he is ready to meet with Putin personally.

"I told Trump: I am ready," added the Ukrainian leader.

At the same time, Zelensky rejected the possibility of any territorial concessions in favor of Russia.

"If we want to stop this war and urgently move to diplomatic negotiations, we must stay where we are and not give Putin anything additional," he stated.

Earlier, Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin on October 16. After the call, he announced that the leaders plan to meet in Budapest. This could be Putin's first visit to the capital of an EU member state during the war in Ukraine.

It is noted that the Russian president's trip is complicated by risks associated with crossing the airspace of EU countries.
