The favorite alcoholic drinks of ancient Egyptians have been revealed

Archaeologists have made an amazing discovery, shedding light on the culture of alcohol consumption in Ancient Egypt. During extensive excavations in the southern part of the country, extremely rare artifacts were discovered, indicating that the tradition of consuming strong drinks existed on the banks of the Nile more than 4 millennia ago.

Among the findings, massive ceramic vessels with flat bases and four elegant thin-walled clay products attracted special attention. Laboratory analysis of the contents of these exquisite vessels revealed traces of ancient beer, confirming the high level of brewing technology development in those distant times.

The use of radiocarbon dating method allowed to establish the exact age of the findings – they date back to the period between the 38th and 36th centuries BCE. This sensational discovery proves that the culture of alcoholic beverages originated long before the appearance of the first dynasty of Egyptian pharaohs.

Researchers emphasize that in ancient Egyptian society, alcohol had a special status and was not associated with simple intoxication. Strong drinks played an important ritual role in funeral ceremonies and were an integral part of ceremonial feasts, available exclusively to members of the aristocracy.
