The head of the Omid store chain Rahman Mammadov and the company's commercial director Tarlan Gasymzade have been taken into custody.

As reported by BAKU.WS citing Qafqazinfo, they are charged with beating a subordinate and extortion under threat of violence.

It became known that Mammadov and Gasymzade suspected the manager of the Ganja branch Omid Gəncə-3 of embezzling trade revenue. Attempting to recover the funds, they brutally beat the man and under psychological pressure demanded that he pay the company 88,000 manats as damage compensation.

The victim filed a complaint with law enforcement agencies, after which the head of the retail chain and his accomplice were detained by police.

Both suspects have been charged under Article 182.2.3 (extortion committed with the use of violence) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The previous evening, the court ordered a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months.

Omid is one of the largest retail chains in Azerbaijan, specializing in wholesale and retail sales of construction materials, renovation supplies, and home goods. The brand's retail network comprises approximately 100 branches in Baku, Ganja, Sumgayit, and other regions of the country.
