The doctor revealed how long after waking up you can drink tea
About whether it's possible to drink tea immediately after waking up and what time is most optimal for this, dietitian and nutritionist Nadezhda Litvinova-Grazion told "Gazeta.Ru".
According to the doctor, starting the day with a cup of tea almost immediately after waking up is acceptable, but certain factors should be considered to get maximum benefits.
"The optimal time for morning tea drinking is 15-20 minutes after waking up. During this time, digestive processes begin to activate. It's better to first drink a glass of warm or room temperature water to compensate for dehydration that occurs overnight," the specialist said.
She also noted that different types of tea have different effects. Green tea invigorates due to caffeine, but acts more gently than coffee. Black tea has a similar effect but provides more energy compared to green tea. Herbal tea is the most preferable option for digestion and immunity.
"It's important to note that it's strictly not recommended to add sugar or milk to tea, as such a product can cause heaviness or nausea," the doctor warned.
And according to the doctor, very strong tea can cause heartburn due to irritation of the stomach lining, constipation, and nausea. Those who suffer from gastritis and increased acidity should be especially careful.
