Humanity may land on Mars within the next 10 years

In an interview with TASS news agency, Charles Vincent, former assistant to the NASA director, stated that humanity could step onto the surface of Mars within the next ten years.

According to Vincent, from a technical standpoint, the necessary foundation for implementing a manned mission to the Red Planet already exists. However, the main barrier remains the lack of funding:
"In many aspects, the necessary technologies have already been developed. We just need to find a way to pay for this ambitious project," the expert emphasized.

Vincent, who oversaw cooperation between Russia and the USA in the field of manned space exploration from 1992 to 2001, reminded that NASA had previously planned to send a human to Mars by 2018. Nevertheless, the high budget of the project caused its postponement.

According to the specialist, with sufficient funding and political will, a human flight to Mars could take place in the foreseeable future - within the next decade.

At the same time, as NASA's Acting Director Janet Petro previously stated, the agency is not yet ready for such a mission in the next five years. According to her, a flight to Mars involves serious risks, and much more needs to be studied for the successful implementation of the mission.
