Musk promised to build cities on the Moon and Mars
SpaceX plans to build self-sustaining cities on the Moon and Mars in the coming decades.
This was announced by American entrepreneur Elon Musk on the social network X.
According to him, the company's specialists have already focused on implementing such a project on Earth's satellite - results could be achieved in less than 10 years.
"SpaceX will also strive to build a city on Mars and begin this approximately five to seven years from now," Musk wrote.
The entrepreneur noted that flights to Mars will only be possible during periods when the planets of the Solar System align properly - every 26 months. The journey duration will be six months.
In turn, rockets to the Moon can be launched every 10 days with a flight duration of two days. The SpaceX founder emphasized that this is precisely why construction of a city there will be accomplished significantly faster than on Mars. By his estimate, creating the latter will require more than 20 years.
Prior to this, Elon Musk stated that the time has come for a large-scale return to the Moon. He made this comment in response to a publication noting that 66 years passed from the first airplane flight to the Moon landing.
