It became known how to get enough sleep in just four hours

Chinese scientists have discovered a new genetic mutation that allows people to get enough sleep in 4-6 hours without harm to health. This is reported by "Gazeta.ru" with reference to the results of scientific research.
The mutation in question is N783Y in the SIK3 gene, which is responsible for regulating the depth and duration of sleep through phosphate signaling pathways. This feature was found in a 70-year-old woman who sleeps no more than six hours a day.
As noted, carriers of the mutation sleep 30% less than most people, but their bodies recover faster without experiencing the consequences of sleep deprivation. Moreover, attempts to sleep 7-9 hours can cause them to feel tired and worn out.
Computer modeling showed that the mutation disrupts the transfer of phosphate groups, reducing the need for sleep. Scientists have also established that similar mutations existed in mammals millions of years ago, indicating its evolutionary advantage.
According to researchers, this discovery could help in developing new treatments for insomnia and other sleep disorders.
Earlier, specialists from Norway found that using smartphones before bedtime negatively affects sleep quality.
