After the age of 35, one should regularly assess not only blood sugar and cholesterol levels but also the function of the thyroid gland, liver, kidneys, and levels of vitamins D3 and B12. This was shared with The Times of India by Indian pathologist and clinical genomics specialist Shelly Mahajan.

According to the expert, it is precisely after the age of 35 that the body becomes less capable of compensating for the effects of stress, sleep deprivation, a sedentary lifestyle, and an unbalanced diet. Outwardly, this may go unnoticed, but during this period, disorders are already beginning to develop that can still be detected and corrected in time.

First on the list, the doctor named the blood sugar level test — it helps to detect prediabetes or early carbohydrate metabolism disorders in a timely manner.

"The second important category is cardiovascular risk assessment: this includes measuring blood pressure and checking cholesterol levels, since the probability of heart attack and stroke gradually increases after the age of 35. It is also necessary to take tests that show the condition of the liver and kidneys. Disorders in the functioning of these organs can remain hidden for a long time, so it is important to detect them before symptoms appear," the doctor warned.

Separately, the doctor advises checking thyroid function. She called this organ the "main thermostat of metabolism" and noted that thyroid problems are often disguised as ordinary fatigue, stress, or decreased energy, although over time they can seriously affect one's health.

As the fifth essential item, Mahajan considers testing for vitamin D3 and B12 levels. Their deficiency does not always cause serious diseases, but it can worsen overall well-being, increase weakness, and reduce productivity and quality of life.
