World Champion from Azerbaijan: In the final I defeated a boxer of Armenian origin
Azerbaijani boxer Subkhan Mamedov, who won a gold medal at the World Championship and thereby became the youngest holder of this title in the country's boxing history, shared his impressions of the tournament held in Dubai (UAE).
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, upon his return to his homeland at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, the athlete answered questions from journalists.
He said that he fought five bouts, and in the final he defeated a boxer of Armenian origin from Russia.
"I prepared very well, and I believed that I would become a champion. I went to these competitions to become a champion. Despite the difficulties, I was able to win," said S. Mamedov.
The boxer also talked about his plans.
"Now I will start preparing for the Olympic Games, which will be held in 2028. My next goal is to become an Olympic champion," he concluded.
It should be noted that Subkhan Mamedov competed in the 48 kg weight category. In the decisive bout, the boxer proved stronger than his Russian opponent of Armenian origin, Edmond Khudayan.
