Gurbanov on the historic success of "Karabakh" in the Champions League

Qarabag's head coach Gurban Gurbanov shared his emotions with TRT Spor after the team's impressive start in the main stage of the UEFA Champions League, where the Azerbaijani club earned the maximum six points in two matches, reports BAKU.WS.

"First of all, I congratulate my players. They truly showed an excellent fight. We saw two different halves of the match. In the first half, we were clearly the dominant side. In the second, the opponent made some changes that affected the course of the game. At times, there were misunderstandings between players, but they managed to pull themselves together," noted Gurbanov.

The Qarabag coach admitted that such a brilliant result was unexpected even for the team itself.

"Honestly, we didn't think we would win two out of two games. It would be wrong to dream about the same success now because our opponents are very serious teams. We need to maintain disciplined play and keep our fighting spirit at a high level. Because mistakes are not forgiven here," the coach emphasized.

Gurbanov also noted that after such bright victories, opponents will pay increased attention to Qarabag.

"This may complicate our task. We will prepare for the upcoming games in the best possible way and do everything to please our fans," assured the specialist.

As a reminder, Qarabag sensationally defeated Lisbon's Benfica away with a score of 3:2 in the first round, and then confidently beat Copenhagen 2:0 in the second match of the main stage of the UEFA Champions League.
