Azerbaijani wrestler Yusif Dursunov won gold at the European Championship in Skopje
Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) won the gold medal at the U-20 European Championship in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
As reported by BAKU.WS, on the last day of the tournament, medalists were determined in the 61, 74, 86, 92, and 125 kg weight categories.
In the gold medal bout, Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) faced Russian wrestler Soslan Gabuyev. The final took place in a tense struggle. Trailing 0:3 during the match, the Azerbaijani wrestler managed to turn the tide and won with a score of 4:3.
Members of the Azerbaijani national team Jamal Abbasov (61 kg) and Nurlan Agazade (74 kg), having lost their decisive bouts to Russian Usman Indirbayev (2:13) and German Manuel Wagin (2:4) respectively, won silver medals.
Another team member Muhammad Abbaszade (86 kg), having defeated Israeli Tomer Drozhnyak with a score of 7:1, took third place. Huseyn Mammadtaghizade (92 kg) lost to Georgian Sandro Kurashvili 1:12 in the bronze medal match.
