Warning to drivers: a fine of 60 manats for this violation

The Road Police Department of Baku city regularly conducts control and preventive measures aimed at preventing traffic accidents involving pedestrians and minimizing the number of accidents. One of the causes of pedestrian accidents is the parking of vehicles on sidewalks.
The head of the department of the Baku Road Police Department, Police Captain Togrul Nasirli, informed BAKU.WS that observations conducted give reason to assert: despite repeated warnings and administrative penalties, some drivers still park their vehicles on sidewalks intended for safe and comfortable movement of pedestrians.
"It should be taken into account that in such cases, pedestrians are forced to move on the roadway, which in turn creates a real basis for the occurrence of traffic accidents involving them.
According to the requirements of current legislation, stopping and parking vehicles on sidewalks is prohibited, and if a violation of the rules is detected, the driver will be punished in accordance with Article 346.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Azerbaijan - 2 penalty points and a fine of 60 manats.
Therefore, we ask drivers to strictly observe the rules of stopping and parking and not to create obstacles for pedestrians, who are the most vulnerable road users," added T. Nasirli.
