Emergency warning - magnetic storm has reached dangerous level

On June 2, in the morning hours, a magnetic storm with a strength of 6 points on a 10-point scale occurred in middle geographical latitudes.

This was reported to BAKU.WS by the Department of Astrophysics of the Physics Faculty of Baku State University (BSU).

It is noted that after 9:00, the storm's strength will decrease to 5 points, and after 12:00 it will be 4 points. Magnetic storms with a strength below 5 points pass relatively harmlessly for Earth. In high geographical latitudes, until 12:00, the magnetic storm strength is expected to be 6-7 points on a 10-point scale, by the end of the day - 3-4 points, and on June 3 from 03:00 to 12:00, a storm with a strength of 5-6 points is forecasted.

In middle geographical latitudes on June 2 after 15:00, the magnetic field indicators will return to the background level. The storms that occurred were determined by images of solar flares taken by STEREO and LASCO coronagraphs. The coronal mass ejection that occurred on May 31 passed near Earth, creating a magnetic storm.
