The Center for Intelligent Transport Management (CITM) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan has addressed cyclists and electric scooter users regarding the increasing cases of dangerous driving and violations of traffic rules.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the department.

"Those operating bicycles and scooters make sharp maneuvers, chaotically cross the roadway, creating emergency situations for other vehicles and pedestrians at crossings. Video surveillance cameras record such traffic violations.

According to the legislation, cyclists must move on specially designated paths, and in their absence - along the edge of the roadway or shoulder, keeping to the right side as much as possible. They are required to use technically sound and properly equipped two-wheeled transport, as well as protective helmets. Cyclists must comply with the requirements of road signs and markings, and yield to vehicles at unregulated intersections of bike paths with the roadway.

Persons operating electric scooters and scooters (small electric vehicles) can move in park and yard areas, residential areas, on bike paths, as well as on common roads in the rightmost lane, observing the requirements of signs and markings. At unregulated intersections of bike paths with the roadway, they must yield to vehicles moving on that road, as well as to pedestrians," the statement says.

The CITM reminds that each traffic violation can cause a traffic accident. In one of the cases caught on video, a cyclist suddenly crashed into a car, fell, and then lay down in front of the car, simulating injuries.
