Azerbaijan will implement a new method of protection against destructive earthquakes.

As Baku.ws reports, this was stated to Report by Azer Gasymzade, director of the Earthquake Research Center (ERC) at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction.

According to him, new devices will be installed in buildings that will allow checking and monitoring their seismic resistance: "Monitoring equipment will be placed on strategically important high-rise buildings and facilities."

A. Gasymzade noted that this year it is planned to create a corresponding Monitoring Center at the ERC.

Gurban Yetirmishli, Director General of the Republican Center of Seismological Service under ANAS, in turn, noted that Azerbaijan is located in a seismically active region, therefore the possibility of strong earthquakes recurring is inevitable.

He reminded that a map of seismic hazard zones of Azerbaijan has been prepared, and a seismic map of Baku's microdistricts may also be created: "The Ministry of Emergency Situations has put forward a proposal in this regard."
