The White House shared a photo of Ilham Aliyev and Pashinyan's handshake at the Peace Council meeting
The administration of US President Donald Trump shared a post on the White House social media page about the first meeting of the Peace Council held the day before in Washington.
Among the historic photos shared by the White House, there is also a photo of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, where the leaders are shaking hands.
"There is nothing more important than peace. Today's meeting proves that with decisive leadership, nothing is impossible. When I took office, the war in Gaza was raging… the war in Gaza has ended," the White House quotes US President Donald Trump as saying.
