It is proposed to exempt the minimum wage from income tax.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Oxu.Az, this was stated by MP Vugar Bayramov at today's session of the Milli Majlis Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, and Entrepreneurship during the discussion of the draft amendments proposed to the Tax Code and a number of laws.
He noted that, given the exemption of the minimum wage from income tax in most countries, it is advisable to apply a similar practice in Azerbaijan as well:
"Exempting our citizens who receive the minimum wage in both the public and private sectors from income tax is also advisable from the standpoint of social security. At the same time, the tax-exempt amount in both sectors can be set at 400 manats. Since the salaries of these citizens are low, taxing their wages is undesirable. In this regard, we propose to exempt from income tax our citizens who receive the minimum wage in both the public and private sectors."
