President: Some officials prefer to be guided by their mercantile interests

Some officials, instead of carrying out these instructions, prefer to be guided by their mercenary interests, putting illegal enrichment at the forefront.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated by President Ilham Aliyev, while receiving his new plenipotentiary representative in Nakhchivan and the appointed heads of the Executive Power of several districts.

"The regions of Azerbaijan today must meet the highest standards. I repeat, every citizen of Azerbaijan can clearly see the revival of the regions as a result of the work done in recent years. Nine international airports, updated, repaired and new railways, highways, electrical infrastructure, projects related to irrigation, drinking water, gasification. We have done all this work in recent years so that people can live better. It is necessary to pay attention to people, to live with their concerns, to be constantly among them. Travel to villages, be in contact with their residents. These are my requirements," emphasized the head of state.

The President of Azerbaijan added that with every appointment, whether it is a head of Executive Power or another leading official, his instructions are focused on this.

"However, unfortunately, I repeat, despite the trust I have shown, some officials, instead of carrying out these instructions, prefer to be guided by their mercenary interests, putting illegal enrichment at the forefront. I am confident that through your work you will justify this high trust. You bear a great responsibility, some of you have already worked in leadership positions, have experience. Some of you are only being appointed to a leadership position. Therefore, I am confident that through your work you will justify this trust and win the sympathy of the people," said the head of state.
