Cooperation between UN-Habitat and Azerbaijan can become a bridge for sharing experience with Africa.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated to Report by Mohamed Coulibaly, UN-Habitat Program Coordinator in the DR Congo, on the sidelines of WUF13 in Baku.
According to him, meetings with urban specialists in Azerbaijan, as well as with representatives of the UN-Habitat office and the country's government, have already been planned.
"This cooperation is already beginning and can become an important bridge between Africa and Azerbaijan, including the exchange of experience in urban development and sustainable urbanization," he noted.
Coulibaly emphasized that such contacts will make it possible to expand interaction between the regions and transfer successful practices to other countries.
Speaking about Baku, he noted the high level of urban planning and management.
"I saw a very developed and well-planned city. Despite heavy rain in the morning, even the flooding that occurred was minor and well-managed. This shows a high level of urban environment organization," he said.
He also added that the conference made a positive impression on him.
"The event is very well organized: there are guides everywhere who help participants, and the sessions are held at a high level," the coordinator emphasized.
He noted that he expects to use the experience gained in Baku in his work with African countries.
"My goal is to obtain practical examples of urban planning and urbanization here, in order to then share them with African countries that are in the process of development," he added.
