Baku and Rome agreed to develop cooperation in the field of critical materials
Azerbaijan and Italy signed a joint declaration on critical raw materials.
This was announced by Italy's Minister of Economic Development Adolfo Urso on social media.
According to him, the strategic partnership between the two countries envisages expanding cooperation beyond the energy sector and attracting Azerbaijani investments into Italy's manufacturing sector. He noted that the parties intend to develop technological and industrial partnerships in innovative sectors, including artificial intelligence and robotics.
"The joint declaration on critical raw materials, signed today with Minister [of Economy] Mikayil Jabbarov at the Italy-Azerbaijan forum, organized with the support of Confindustria together with Italy's Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) and Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of Confindustria President Emanuele Orsini and Minister Antonio Tajani, is aimed precisely at achieving this goal," Urso stated.
He added that it involves combining Azerbaijani resources and Italian competencies to diversify supplies and stimulate investments at all stages of the production chain, including with the possible support of the National Made in Italy Fund.
"Azerbaijan can also become an important partner in the implementation of the strategic storage project for critical raw materials, which Italy proposes to establish in Porto Marghera. It could become the first pilot facility of its kind in Europe, designed to protect Italian and European industry from supply disruptions and strengthen strategic autonomy," the minister added.
