Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva participated in the opening of the II International Congress on Pediatric Oncology in Samarkand under the slogan "From Recovery to Quality of Life" within the framework of the World Summit "Investing in the Well-being of Children".

As reported by AZERTAC, speaking at the event, Leyla Aliyeva expressed gratitude to the organizers for holding the congress at a high level and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the fight against childhood cancer.

"Every child deserves respect, care, and the opportunity to live a full life," said Leyla Aliyeva, noting that despite progress in cancer treatment, joint efforts must continue to preserve hope for children and their families around the world.

"We strive to help children around the world, to inspire hope in them. This area is also a focus of attention in Azerbaijan. In March 2012, a Pediatric Oncology Clinic was opened in our country. It is the first pediatric clinic of the National Oncology Center in the region," she added.

Touching upon the importance of initiatives aimed at uniting the efforts of specialists and organizations in the field of pediatric oncology, the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation assessed the creation of a coalition to fight childhood cancer as another important step forward.

Speaking about the support provided to children suffering from this disease in Azerbaijan, Leyla Aliyeva emphasized that medical care is funded by the state and that support for children and their families continues. She noted that no one should face this difficult ordeal alone.

Drawing attention to the emotional side of health and its connection to a person's physical condition, Leyla Aliyeva said: "As we continue to study cancer, we must not ignore the emotional side of health. The connection between our brain and our body is very deep. We still need to study how emotional trauma, stress, and the environment affect our health."

Emphasizing that children are particularly sensitive to what is happening around them and that the emotional state of parents and the atmosphere in the family have a significant impact on them, the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation said: "As Ibn Sina also noted, when treating a disease, it is necessary to consider its causes."

It was emphasized that along with the development of treatment methods, attention should also be paid to providing psychological support to children and ensuring that every child is surrounded by love, respect, and understanding.

In conclusion, thanking those who work to improve children's living conditions, Leyla Aliyeva noted the importance of children not only receiving the necessary treatment but also having the opportunity to live a full life.

At the opening ceremony of the II International Congress on Pediatric Oncology, Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan for Healthcare Reform Tamila Aliyeva, Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova, and Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Damirbek Osmonov also spoke.
