Azerbaijan and Indonesia discussed preparations for the Baku OIC summit

Azerbaijan and Indonesia discussed preparations for the 16th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which will be held in Azerbaijan in 2027.

As reported to BAKU.WS by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, the talks were held between Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Director General of the Asia-Pacific and Africa Department of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Santo Darmosumarto.

The parties reviewed the current cooperation agenda and opportunities for further development of relations between the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, investment, transport, tourism, education, and the humanitarian sphere. The importance of intensifying mutual visits and strengthening institutional contacts was also emphasized.

The participants of the meeting exchanged views on the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Indonesia within the frameworks of the UN, OIC, Non-Aligned Movement, D8, ASEAN, and other international platforms.

The parties noted the need to continue dialogue and coordination on issues of mutual interest. One of the main topics was the preparation for the 16th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the OIC, which Azerbaijan will host in 2027.

The meeting also highlighted the significance of Azerbaijan's cooperation with five Central Asian countries in the C6 format. In this context, strengthening regional connectivity, expanding transport and transit capabilities, and developing trade and economic relations were discussed.

In addition, the parties addressed issues of regional and international security and other topics of mutual interest.

On the same day, the next round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Indonesia took place. The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, and the Indonesian delegation by Santo Darmosumarto.
