Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan discussed prospects for further cooperation

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel met with the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan.

"The parties summarized the results of bilateral cooperation for the past year and discussed plans for the near future," the information states.

Alim Bayel emphasized the high dynamics of mutual visits as an indicator of cooperation intensity: over the past three years, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited Azerbaijan six times, and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited Kazakhstan five times.

"It was noted that on August 8, 2025, a long-standing conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia was concluded. A historic Declaration on peaceful settlement was signed. Kazakhstan also contributed to the peace process by providing a platform for Azerbaijani-Armenian negotiations in 2024. It has both symbolic and practical significance that the first cargo in 30 years allowed into Armenia through Azerbaijan's territory was Kazakhstani wheat. The parties noted the importance of further unblocking communications," the information states.

The Embassy emphasizes that the full inclusion of Azerbaijan in the format of Central Asian leaders' summits became a significant event of 2025.

"Kazakhstan comprehensively facilitated this process. The leader of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented to the Azerbaijani press that he would be glad to see Azerbaijan in the C5 + USA format."

During the meeting, the parties also emphasized the need to strengthen economic and industrial cooperation using a joint investment fund, and to develop transport, logistics and energy cooperation.

"Issues of international and regional agenda were also discussed. It was noted that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are jointly participating in the formation of a new geopolitical and geoeconomic architecture in the Eurasian region," the information states.
