In the modern period, the significance of medical tourism has grown considerably. However, I regret to note that today we are not fully utilizing our country's capabilities in this area.

As reported by Oxu.Az, this was stated by the chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Healthcare, MP Akhliman Amiraslanov, during hearings on the topic "Current State and Prospects for Tourism Development in Azerbaijan," held in the Committee on Labor and Social Policy.

What is the potential of medical tourism in Azerbaijan?

According to him, the country has the capabilities for this.

"Revenues from medical tourism are 6-10 times higher than income from other types of tourism. Our country can earn significant funds in this area. To develop medical tourism, it is necessary to ensure international accreditation of our well-known and modern clinics so that they gain recognition at the global level. If we want to develop this area, we must certainly establish rehabilitation centers in the country as well," the MP noted.
