Azerbaijan signed an agreement with an Emirati company on the creation of a smart gas network

Today, the Production Association "Azerigaz" of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Esyasoft Holding from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed an agreement on the design, creation, and commissioning of a "smart gas network".

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to SOCAR, the main goal of the project is to increase the efficiency of gas distribution operations in Azerbaijan, optimize costs, reduce existing gas losses, as well as increase customer and citizen satisfaction with the services provided by "Azerigaz" through the application of advanced technologies of the smart gas management system.

The project will cover a period of approximately 14 years, including the stages of installing 2.5 million smart meters and system support. During this period, it is planned to invest $480 million. These investments will enable the digitalization of the network in the near future, installation of smart pressure and temperature sensors, creation of a "Digital Solutions Lab", training employees in advanced technologies and organizing international experience exchange, application of artificial intelligence, ensuring information security by placing data in the "Government Cloud", as well as creating a control center equipped with modern technologies.

Consumers will receive benefits such as more accurate calculation, real-time usage monitoring, quick problem solving, remote service, and easy access to consumption data through digital platforms.

This agreement, which is a continuation of the cooperation agreement signed between SOCAR and Esyasoft Holding during last year's COP29 held in Baku, was signed by SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf, "Azerigaz" General Director Azer Mamedov, and Esyasoft Holding CEO Bipin Chandra.
