The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the State Agency for Water Resources of Azerbaijan (ADSEA) signed an agreement on technical assistance for public-private partnership to modernize the Govsan wastewater treatment plant - one of the largest water infrastructure facilities in the country.

As Report informs, the document was signed during a meeting between ADSEA Chairman Zaur Mikailov and ADB Director for Azerbaijan Sunnia Durrani-Jamal.

This agreement became the second public-private partnership project in Azerbaijan after the successful tender for the construction of a desalination plant earlier this year.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of public-private partnership in Azerbaijan, and potential technical assistance projects with the Asian Development Bank were presented.

Recall that on December 25, 2023, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on the implementation of a pilot project for the treatment and reuse of wastewater discharged from the Govsan aeration station into the Caspian Sea. In the future, it is planned to increase the capacity of treatment facilities at the Govsan aeration station to 200 thousand cubic meters.
