Azerbaijan Presents First Locally Assembled Electric Bus

In Sumgayit Industrial Park, BakuBus LLC presented the first electric bus manufactured at the Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory of BYD company.

This was reported by the Ministry of Economy.

The bus was assembled using the SKD (Semi Knocked Down) method - large-unit assembly.

The presentation was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy Samed Bashirli, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei, BYD CEO Tian Chunlong, Director of BakuBus LLC Shahin Hasanov and other officials.

It was noted that the project opens a new stage in Azerbaijan's transport sector, contributes to strengthening industrial potential, developing technology transfer and human capital. It was also emphasized that this is part of the country's policy in the field of "green" energy and transport, as well as a successful example of Azerbaijani-Chinese cooperation.

The electric bus is 12 meters long, accommodates up to 82 passengers and can travel up to 350 km on a single charge. In the future, production of models with various capacities is planned, as well as electric trucks, utility vehicles and passenger cars.

Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory was established by the joint initiative of the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund under the Ministry of Economy, SARDA Group and BYD.
