Today is the birthday of People's Artist of Azerbaijan, Professor Gamida Omarova.

Gamida Omarova was born on April 25, 1957, in Baku, into a family of foreign language teachers.

After graduating from secondary school, she enrolled in the Faculty of Philology at Azerbaijan State University.

In 1975, having completed her first year, Omarova passed the examination and became one of 15 students (out of 300 applicants) admitted to the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow.

Since 1977, G. Omarova has appeared in more than 30 films, becoming the most successful Azerbaijani actress of the 1980s.

Outside Azerbaijan, she is known for her role as Telli in the film "Don't Be Afraid, I'm with You" (1982, directed by Y. Gusman).

In 1988, Omarova was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR.

In 1992, she got married and had a son. At the same time, Gamida Omarova hosted the television program "Retro" — a review of classic Azerbaijani and foreign films.

Since 2002, Gamida Omarova has been the scriptwriter of the TV show "Kinoshtrikh" (Cinema Stroke).

In 2005, she was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Since 2007, she has been the host of the TV show "Seans" (Screening) on the ANS channel, and since 2006, she has served as the president of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan.

In 2023, she was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The professional actress currently appears in television series.
