Zurab Tsereteli has died

Monumental artist, sculptor, president of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli passed away at the age of 91, reports "Interfax" on April 22, citing the master's assistant Sergey Shagulashvili.
"Yes, it happened today at half past one in the morning," the agency's source confirmed.
According to Shagulashvili, the decision about the farewell ceremony and funeral will be made later.
Zurab Tsereteli headed the Russian Academy of Arts and held the honorary title of People's Artist of the USSR. During his long creative life, he created more than five thousand works in various genres: painting, graphics, sculpture, monumental and decorative art (frescoes, mosaics, panels). Tsereteli gained worldwide fame for such works as the monument to Peter I and the monument "Friendship Forever" in Moscow, the monument "Good Defeats Evil" in front of the UN building in New York, "Birth of a New Man" in Seville, "Breaking the Wall of Distrust" in London.
