Trump's Likely Plan for Lifting Sanctions on Russia Revealed
US President Donald Trump will not lift Western sanctions against Russia all at once, but rather will remove them gradually, viewing it as a possible reward for compliance with the ceasefire agreement in Ukraine. This is reported by Asia Times.
The publication notes that Russia has repeatedly demanded complete removal of sanctions, however Trump, as a "master of deals," will likely prefer a gradual approach, linking the easing of sanctions pressure with the fulfillment of ceasefire conditions or a peace treaty.
The article's authors suggest that Washington could ease restrictions on Russian oil exports by sea, demonstrating to Moscow its willingness to reduce pressure. Additionally, the EU could also consider partially resuming imports of Russian goods.
Earlier, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that during the phone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, the issue of sanctions was not raised. He also emphasized that Moscow considers these restrictions illegal.
