One of the most dangerous volcanoes on the planet has begun erupting - what to expect?

One of the most active and dangerous volcanoes in the world - Kilauea in Hawaii - is showing high activity again. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), lava fountains reaching heights from 50 to 100 meters are rising from the vent, reports mk.ru.

At the current moment, two active vents have already filled about 5% of the crater with lava. Scientists note that since December 2024, the duration of eruptions has varied significantly - from 13 hours to 8 days of continuous activity.

Kilauea is located on the Big Island of the Hawaiian archipelago and is considered the youngest and most active volcano in the region. Its height is 1,250 meters, and it has been erupting almost continuously since 1983.

The eruption is occurring in a closed area, but it can be safely observed from equipped viewing platforms in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
