Media: USA is preparing to recognize Crimea as Russian territory

The administration of US President Donald Trump is exploring the possibility of officially recognizing Crimea as part of Russia as part of agreements for peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by the Semafor portal, citing its sources.

According to the publication's information, the American administration is also considering the idea of appealing to the UN to follow a similar step.

It is emphasized that Trump has not yet made a final decision on this issue.

Earlier, The Globe and Mail publication, citing an anonymous source, wrote that American proposals for settling the Ukrainian conflict provide for recognizing Russia's control over a number of new territories, as well as transferring to the US the rights to receive billions of dollars in revenue from the sale of Ukrainian natural resources.
