At a meeting in the capital of Great Britain - the city of London - the United States of America will propose recognizing Crimea as Russian territory and freezing the current front line.

This is reported by the publication The Washington Post with reference to its own sources.

It is noted that Ukraine's allies expect to receive security guarantees and programs for the country's reconstruction in exchange for any such territorial concessions.

According to information from three informed sources, similar proposals from Washington were conveyed to the Ukrainian side during a meeting in Paris that took place last week. These proposals involve the official recognition by the United States of America of Crimea as territory of the Russian Federation and, in perspective, the gradual lifting of sanctions against Russia as part of a future peace agreement. It is expected that in response, the Russian Federation will cease military operations on the territory of Ukraine, despite having a significant advantage in the number of troops and availability of weapons.

The publication, citing sources, reports that the proposal voiced in Paris was the result of a visit by Donald Trump's special representative - Steve Witkoff - to Moscow. The visit included a hours-long meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. According to one insider, the essence of the initiative is for the United States of America to recognize Crimea as Russian, without forcing Ukraine to make a similar recognition.
