Major railway accident in Slovakia: Two trains collided, more than 20 injured

In the Košice region, near the city of Rožňava, two trains collided, resulting in at least 20 people injured, according to preliminary data. According to Baku.Ws, citing information from the Slovak Railway Company (ZSSK), the incident occurred at a section where a double-track line transitions into a single track, which could have been one of the causes of the collision. Five ambulances and a rescue helicopter promptly arrived at the scene to evacuate and provide assistance to the victims. The seriousness of the situation is underscored by the immediate response of local authorities and emergency services.

Train traffic in the area of the accident has been temporarily suspended. Competent authorities are currently actively conducting an investigation to establish all the causes and circumstances of the incident. This incident once again raises questions about railway safety, especially on complex sections of tracks that require increased attention and technical solutions.
